Good read. I expected something a little bit different though, more like a biography of Tarkin, and this is more an adventure set about 5 years ABY, with some flashbacks telling about his early childhood. However, the adventure story does take pains to clearly show deep insight into the character. One minor negative comment is the story seems a bit short, buy maybe I just really enjoyed it and wished it was longer LOL.

There's some pretty interesting interactions between Lord Vader and Tarkin made possible by the fact that in hierarchy of the Empire, these guys rank pretty close together so it's nice to see some frank conversations between the two- not just the usual groveling before the Emperor and then turning around and threatening everyone else that Vader usually does.
