The Heavy

a Mother, a Daughter, a Diet--a Memoir

File this one under "too much information" provided by an over-anxious mother who happened to have publishing industry connections. I can't think how or why it would have got published otherwise, as it is badly written and rife with inconsistencies. For example, she describes mealtimes in her family of origin as adequately nutritious family affairs, then a short read later reports that there was too much unhealthy food kept in the house and her parents were frequently absent at mealtimes. Huh? Bear in mind also that the daughter in question is all of - wait for it - eight years old (!) by the end of the book. Poor child, having to grow up with this record of her mother's anxiety dogging her. All in all, don't expect much depth or even content.
