A decent read that introduces the reader to many familiar and unfamiliar figures in early American history, but it has its flaws. Roberts tended to whitewash the people she was writing about, leaving out a lot of the darker aspects of their lives. She was also not very discriminate in her research, not trying to separate fact from myth. That said, it's a great introduction to a lot of these women, and it inspired me to look into them in further detail.
