Very good series!

Having been a fan of Guy Pearce since "Priscilla" and a lover of the offbeat mystery, I so wanted to like this series. Just didn't work out. I watched the first 3 episodes and couldn't quite figure out where it wanted to go. The opening scene is pretty manipulative, should have stopped there. Interesting secondary characters. Entertainment isn't meant to be work, is it?

Much, much better than the 2013-14 seasons. Accents not over done, better scripts, not as dark or as moody, more current issue and less broody. The new star is more believable and the focus on alcoholism is not overwhelming. I truly enjoyed this season.

I enjoyed this 6 episode series. Jack Irish is a very unkept and messy looking man who badly needs his hair combed and a shave. The characters in this series are interesting and complex. I enjoyed the three older fellows in the bar and the elderly man in the woodworking shop. There are quite a few flashes back and forth between Australia and the Phillipines, sometimes a bit too quickly so it is difficult to absorb what is going on. I would like another series of Jack Irish.

Good series- Guy Pearce plays a downtrodden lawyer in Australia, who investigates various cases.

Jack Irish was an overhyped, underdeveloped Australian TV series, much of which takes place in the Phillippines where a religious cult is killing Muslims in a fishing village to use their harbor. That's the entire basic plot but they added a lot of dumb stuff as filler. There were huge gaping plot holes (killing an entire fishing village for its harbor then not using the harbor???). Don't bother. I want my six hours back.

Chose not to waste my time. Figured out they were speaking English, to dark of a screen can't see much, okay only spent 10 mins. on it. Did not appear to have a story line.

A detective / mystery series set in Melbourne Australia. Based on books by Peter Temple. I wasn't too impressed by the first episode, but got hooked by episode 2. Takes awhile to figure out Jack Irish - former criminal attorney, now a detective / debt collector and the rest of his crew. His girlfriend, a journalist, leaves him to do a story in Manila that involves a Muslim terrorist that is somehow linked to an Australian church organization with loose corporate practices. People keep getting killed off and Jack seems to get most of the blame. 6 episodes on 2 DVDs. I have season 2 checked out, so not really sure if this is an ongoing series. The story gets a bit complex and Jack seems to have quite a collection of odd-ball mates, but that only adds to the story line.
