This movie was the beginning of a franchise that would be loved around the globe for generations to come. A New Hope was the classic Star Wars movie that started the beloved space saga. This movie, written and directed by George Lucas was incredible. Having everything you need, from a scary villain to epic space battles, this movie goes down in history as one of the best Star Wars movies of the franchise. The amazing music done by John Williams, and the special effects that were way ahead of their time created a masterpiece no one will forget. This film is definitely in my top 5 list of Star Wars movies. 5/5 @TheCanadianHufflepuff of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library

This movie is a classic. It started a new generation of incredible Sci-Fi movies, and has constantly inspired so many more incredible pieces of music and film. The plot is a wonderful story that although cliche and cheesy at many points, it still comes across as an iconic story. The visual effects for the time were stunning. The exposition is decently long but the whole buildup is worth it. The soundtrack is absolutely incredible, because of the genius John Williams. This movie is such a wonderful example of the power of creative minds, fusing so many genres and ideas into one perfect movie. - @ecozones of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library

Star Wars is the furnace in the nostalgia factory of Generation X. If you want to understand us, that is, if you want to understand your mother and father (I don't know why you would, but if you did) you'd want to begin your research right here. This is one of those rare films that gets a historical thumb tack on Hollywood's cork board: pre-Star Wars/post-Star Wars. You may laugh at its archaic boy-saves-girl plot, its hammy acting, and its aging special effects, but you'll have a hard time trying to convince anyone from my generation that Star Wars isn't one of the greatest movies of all time. It's our totem. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds us together.

One of the best and important movies ever made.

I was surprised at how disappointed I was in watching this film again - its almost all action, very little drama, and the acting was noticeably bad. The writing and the plot was downright childish. Nevertheless, it brought back some pleasant memories. (Contrary to other commentators, this is not a science fiction, its a space opera.)

Best scifi movie ever made.

Good to watch this again to prepare for viewing Rogue One. It was fun to see how 70s it is, but it still stands up.

I was advised to watch episode IV in order to understand Rogue One, is this true? Hopefully it is because I am a Gen X parent taking my Gen Z son to see it (or wait for the video)....he loved Star Wars Awakens due to that orange and white android, the amazing and pretty lead actress, and the extremely talented actor who played the death trooper with a conscience, lol!

My 2nd favorite out of the whole franchise. You can't beat the amazing effects and the timeless characters.
