Rubin believes that for most of us, outer order contributes to inner calm. And for most of us, a rigid, one-size-fits-all solution doesn't work. Here she suggests short, concrete clutter-clearing ideas so each reader can choose the ones that resonate most. By tailoring our approach to suit our own particular challenges and habits, we're far more likely to be able to create the order that will make our lives happier, healthier, more productive, and more creative. -- adapted from publisher info

Really quick read with some common sense suggestions. Should be easy to pick out 3-5 top passages and put them to work for you. I really enjoyed this for a self-help type book.

This book is less proscriptive and narrative than Ms Rubin's other books (The Happiness Project, Better Than Before). Instead, OUTER ORDER, INNER CALM is a collection of good advice and reasons to keep your environment in good shape.

Title/Author: Outer Order, Inner Calm by Gretchen Rubin
Summary: In the context of a happy life, a messy desk or crowded coat closet is a trivial problem–yet Gretchen Rubin has found that getting control of the stuff of life makes us feel more in control of our lives generally. By getting rid of things we don’t use, don’t need, or don’t love, as well as things that don’t work, don’t fit, or don’t suit, we free our mind (and our shelves) for what we truly value.
Series/Standalone: Standalone
Genre/sub-genre: Nonfiction/Self-Help
Book Format: Print
Length: 215 pages
Well written/Editor Needed: Well written
Would I Recommend?: YES!
Personal thoughts: I fell for this book, hard, in the first few pages. I appreciate her stance that there isn't only one way to clear clutter that will work for everyone. There are so many tips and tricks in this little book, you're sure to find at least one that will speak to you. It's also a quick, easy read, though you'll likely want to take notes on your favorite ideas. I highly recommend this for anyone, even if you don't think you have a clutter problem.

Decluttering without guilt! With IRL criteria like "If I ran into my ex on the street, would I be happy if I were wearing this?"
