When you read this book, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are reading about a jealous wife and her obsession with her replacement. You will assume you are reading about a woman about to enter a new marriage with the man she loves. You will assume the first wife was a disaster and that the husband was well rid of her. You will assume you know the motives, the history, the anatomy of the relationships. Assume nothing.

I got this book from a friend, to be honest, not from the library, but I decided to write a short review anyway. The story is apparently very simple: a discarded wife is jealous of the new wife-to-be of her husband and tries to make their life difficult. But it is more complicated than that. The ex-husband is a violent, abusive men, so the wife is actually trying to warn the rival. It is not always clear who is speaking in the different chapters, but one thing is sure: the end is completely unexpected and you will have to think of some details offered earlier in the story to understand it. One thing that I didn't like was the husband is not punished, or at least that his money allows him to escape a harsher (but definitely well deserved) punishment. I assume this book might be compared to Gone Girl or The Girl on the Train or The Perfect Stranger, but I think it is actually weaker and boring in comparison.

I did not like the premise, the writing, the story, the layout, the beginning, the middle, the ending. I cannot think of one thing I like about this book. I rolled my eyes the whole time. I should have stopped reading but I was hoping that the story would get better but it never did. I decided well, I've come this far, might as well finish it.

Loved this book. Characters were amazing (loved Nellie) and the author did a great job slowly giving you pieces of the puzzle to keep you gripped right until the last page. Ending was a little disappointing but that was my only complaint.

Fantastic. You always expect the scorned woman when you hear a story about a man moving on! Not this time. Girl power!

Purposely confusing book. Too much like hard work to sort out.

I kept waiting for this book to get going but it never did.

(Review Not on Blog)

I love the blue of this cover, but the art on it screams, "GIRL BOOK!!!" Reading the synopsis I started y looking forward to this one. This is a fair psychological thriller. It's not exactly what you think and if you are a mystery reader you will see through it. There is a twist, but the twist comes a bit late. I think only some readers will pick up on it early. The authors kept my attention despite the characters being "Gone Girl" types (vapid characters you don't feel invested in). It was worth the read but I would suggest borrowing it from a library rather than buying your copy.

***I received an eARC from NETGALLEY***

An enjoyable read; I liked being able to keep guessing all sorts of possibilities throughout the book.
