Truly a masterpiece of story telling. A fitting epic to "Shogun" but set in a different era. Every bit as well told as Shogun with intense mystery and intrigue but set in a time I personally find less fascinating. This may be the only reason I was unable to give this book an outstanding vote. Very much a personal opinion then and less of a review.

This story is very drawn-out and lacks flow. The cultural insights and staregy of the charachters is very intriguing, but the story is rather dull and very tedious to read.

A crackerjack yarn! Too bad it is unfinished! I could do with a dozen more like it!
