The authors last books have been very poor. Superficial, with not much "meat". Since when do grown men call their fathers Daddy? Very disappointed. Would not recommend. No stars out of five.

I really enjoyed this book. I have read all of the other books in the Beach House series. It is a tear jerker starting half way through the book. Really helps you understand what our service men and woman are dealing with when returning home from war and the power of family love.

This one is a tear- jerker, and I seldom cry when reading a book. This is one Christmas that is veering straight towards disaster and has the makings of a modern day classic Christmas story. The addition of a returned warrior with PTSD to his family for the holiday season amidst a few other wrenches thrown into this family's drama make for a memorable holiday read. This is one I would purchase to read and reread often.

This is a good though average book. I gave it an extra star (the 4th) for it's excellent portrayal of someone trying to cope with PTSD. If you are a fan of Monroe's writing, you will love this book. If you haven't read any before (as I hadn't), you will enjoy it's "warmhearted" characters and story (though formulaic) if you need to kill some time or read something lighter than a crime novel for a change.

A great read and touching story. Family, difficult times and learning to learn, love and share again all that family is about. PTSD and a service dog are part of the teaching and learning and moving forward with knowledge and healing type story.
