I love and highly recommend this series by Kate Carlisle, except for Books of a Feather. Books of a Feather is not nearly as good as the 9 books that precede it. Finding a dead body and then sitting down to dinner defies logic / reason / sanity for anyone much less our heroine and her umpteenth dead body and her former M6 fiancé. I can't understand how the author or publisher allowed this scene to remain in the book. I sincerely hope the next 2 books are up to Kate's normally 5 of 5 stars standard.

The great descriptions of the technicalities of book restoration kept me reading this otherwise hokey mystery. The author is also good at describing delicious food. So you have a dead guy found in the open doorway of the heroine's apartment, and following a brief bit of hand wringing, the group sits down to eat waffles.

I want to give it a 4 star because the murder mystery is fun, and the mom is hilarious, and the book mending help is great. I want to give it a 1 star because OMG at least 1/3 of the book tells what happened in previous books (what you're out of ideas, or just lazy and fluffing up to get more money for more pages?) And the almost, but not blatant, racial stereotyping of Chinese offends me, means I'm never going to actually recommend this book to any one. Start with the first of the series, and pass on this one.
