See Wonder Woman like you've never seen her before in WONDER WOMAN: THE TRUE AMAZON, an original graphic novel from Eisner Award-winning writer and artist Jill Thompson. Join Princess Diana in her early years, as she develops into the formidable hero we know and love.

Young Diana has the fawning attention of her nation, but she soon grows spoiled and ungrateful. When a series of tragic events takes its toll, Diana must learn to grow up, take responsibility, and seize her destiny.

Acclaimed for her work with Neil Gaiman's THE SANDMAN, DEAD BOY DETECTIVES and more, Jill Thompson fulfills her dream project of bringing readers this new perspective on the Amazon Princess. Starring in her own feature film next year, Wonder Woman is at the forefront of media attention, and this long-awaited story is highly anticipated by fans of both the character and the creator.

Steeped in the mythology of this iconic character's original conception, WONDER WOMAN: THE TRUE AMAZON is a fresh, stand-alone interpretation of the most famous and iconic female superhero of all time.

The only thing I like about this is he drawing style, and the colors, everything else was terrible. Lets start with Diana, who (in this book) is portrayed as an profanity-using arrogant and selfish little brat, which is not the Wonder Woman I am familiar with. Also the amazons start out as "Stronger than 5 men!" which ok on its own, but then they evolve into clumsy wimps who wear nothing but revealing dresses, which was probably used to attract the male readers. Abstain form this dismal trash heap my friends.

One of the best retellings of Wonder Woman's origin written or rendered. Excellent job by the creative team! I've read few graphic novels that are as good this year. I only found that the ending was a bit soft, which is really a minor nitpick.

Huge Jill Thompson fan here, and this gorgeous, hard-cover, original graphic novel manages to offer yet another origin story for the most famous Amazon in history that explores something new, yet retains the iconic elements of Wonder Woman's story. Thompson imagines the Amazon princess as being so coddled and adored by the Amazon population that she becomes vain and self-involved, to the point of bringing shame and tragedy to herself and her sisters through her thoughtless selfishness. It's an interesting conjecture as to what ultimately forms Diana's virtuous character. And Thompson's artwork is gorgeous. This is one beautifully put together novel. A worthy addition to the WW canon.
