War porn is, in Roy Scranton's searing debut novel, a metaphor for the experience of war in the age of the War on Terror, the fracturing and fragmentation of perspective, time, and self that afflicts soldiers and civilians alike, and the global networks and face-to-face moments that suture our fragmented lives together."-- Provided by publisher.

"Dark in here--what are y'all doing, looking at porn?"
"War porn," Aaaron said. "Wanna see?"
The provocatively titled "War Porn" joins the growing shelf of Iraq War literature, which also includes "Fobbit," "Redeployment," and "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk," which is my favorite. "War Porn" is ambitious, as it splits its narrative up, spending time in Iraq and on the homefront, following a few major characters, including an Iraqi, which is the novel's boldest move. Author Roy Scranton is a war vet, so there's a power and authenticity to his writing, even if there's a familiarity to the narrative and a lack of focus at times.
"I didn't know what to do with nobody shooting at me."
