"Lena Woodward, an elderly woman, enlists the help of both lawyer Catherine Lockhart and private investigator Liam Taggart to appraise the story of her harrowing past in Nazi occupied Poland. At the same time, Lena's son Arthur presents her with a hefty lawsuit under the pretense of garnering her estate--and independence--for his own purposes. Where these stories intersect is through Lena's dubious account of her life in war-torn Poland, and her sisterhood with a childhood friend named Karolina."-- Provided by publisher.

Good story.

The story told by Karolina's Twins is based on real events shared with the author, more proof that truth is stranger than fiction. Childhood friends Lena and Karolina have their lives shattered by the 1939 Nazi invasion of Poland, but even in the midst of so much evil and destruction, goodness lives and lives are saved. The question is, were the lives of Karolina's twins saved, and where are they now? This is what Lena asks Catherine, an attorney, and Liam, a private investigator, to find out. Moving back and forth between the war and the present day, the story will take you on a journey that you want to end happily for everyone, and especially for the twins.

Another good holocaust mystery solved in the Liam and Catherine series. I enjoy this modern day duo who help elderly holocaust survivors in books 1 and 3. The majority of the book is 89 yr old Lena telling her story of survival in Chrzanów, Poland. I never tire of reading about the bravery and strength of spirit of so many who endured WWII. Balson comes up with unique stories based on fact. A good read.
