I found this to be a difficult and challenging book to read. I suppose it's meant to be an example of how a person's life and relationship with others can be so daunting and negative and self destructive. I wasn't always able to determine the why's when it appeared many times that there were so many less negative alternatives. Obviously psychological issues were a significant factor as well as life experiences, unknown factors and a thousand other variables.

Having said all that, it's well worth your time to hang in there and read through to the very end.
