The New Christmas Tree inspires readers to turn a holiday standby into a stunning design statement--whether they're looking to add something new to their traditional Christmas decor or create a unique holiday tradition all their own.

A closer look at each one-of-a-kind tree reveals the real heart of these designs--beautifully handcrafted ornaments, garlands, and more, from felted bumblebees to delicate paper flowers. Some use traditional Christmas materials in novel ways, while other employ flea-marekt finds to create something entirely unexpected!

Each chapter takes readers through the process of constructing a well-balanced tree that is rich in texture and dimension from topper to tree stand. Also included is information on the fundamentals of tree selection, installation, sources of products, tolls, equipment and more.

This is a terrific "look book" with potential applications beyond Christmas. Each themed tree is an imaginative combination of DIY and ornaments to collect. It's really well done as long as you are more into the Tree than the Christ. (One theme incorporates joss paper, which is used in ancestor worship.) As I explored these ideas, I could imagine many of them in specific store displays.

While this book is very lovely and has beautiful ideas, they just didn't do it for me. Not my thing. I know everyone has their own tastes but unfortunately for me, this book didn't thrill me in the least. I will say, there were some lovely ideas, some I never thought of, but, I guess, I like different type of ornaments and how trees are decorated. I'm sure there will be others who will love this book and be inspired by it. Like I said, I liked it, it had lovely ideas and directions on how to do them, but, it just wasn't my taste.
