Wow, this is a pretty dark novel and I definitely don't recommend it for younger readers. Most of the stories all seemed to link well together though.

I don't think this 'expanded' version of the Joker's assault on Gotham and on Batman is necessary. The stories outside of the main arc didn't add anything to what was happening. I also found that for this to be the Joker's ultimate attack, Batman had too many 'I took the precaution to' solutions and counters that unfortunately made this feel a bit like an accidental parody of the 60s series. Good but not great.
