From The New York Times bestselling author of Blue Heaven and Back of Beyond comes a gripping new thriller When teenagers Danielle and Gracie Sullivan take a clandestine car trip to visit their friend in Montana, little do they know it's the last time anyone will ever hear from them again.  The girls and their car simply vanish.  Cody Hoyt, who's just lost his job and has fallen off the wagon after a long stretch of sobriety, is in no condition to investigate.  But his son Justin, who the girls were going to visit, and his former partner, Cassie Dewell, convince him to drive south to their last known location.  As Cody makes his way to the remote stretch of Montana highway where the girls went missing, Cassie discovers that there have been scores of similar disappearances in the state.  There's a serial killer out there roaming the highways, and Cody and Cassie must find him before he takes more lives.

At little slow in the middle but pretty good

This is the second book I've read by Box. A disappointing twist part-way through and an unsatisfactory ending.

Has to be the best C. J. Box book I've ever read! With a shocking plot twist partway thru, it was fast-paced, well-written & a complete revelation! I read it in two days, it was THAT good!!

CJ Bix Fans - Don't bother with this one

Not only not CJ's best works, it is at the absolute bottom IMHO

Maybe it's because he is trying to get into the head of a criminal low-life rather than an LEO, or maybe he was rushed to meet a deadline. Either way the pace was horrible, there were WTF moments every couple of pages

The King trys to stay out of WA, OR and CA, yet one anchor of his circuit is Yakima WA?

What mother would let two teen age girls go on an Interstate trip - alone - without insisting that the car had a checkup first?

"She crossed her arms ove her breasts" Where else would she cross them? Behind her back?

and on, and on, and on

This was the first book I read by C.J. Box, and now I am going to go get more . I thought it was a good read, finished it in two days.

Like millions of you I love the Joe Pickett novels by C.J. Box. But "The Highway" is just plain predictable and such claptrap that I have to put a thumbs down for overall review. Why does such a revered writer have to resort to another rendition of "girl kidnapped by sexual predator and has moments to live"? I do not want to read gore, sadism, and sickness of the human condition.

This is beneath the talents of C.J. Box. He Box not had the phenomenal success of the Joe Pickett series and started out with "The Highway" I would tell him to hit the highway and not read another work by him.

Not one of C J Box' best, but you have to admire a writer who takes the risks that he has in this book. Enough said... any more would be a spoiler.

This is a very intense and grisly book. Definitely not for the squemish. The plot is an exact copy of William Kent Krueger;s "Copper River" althought Krueger is no where near as graphic. Just a cautionary word of dvice.

"When two teens go missing during a clandestine car trip, alcoholic investigator Cody Hoyt is convinced by his son and former partner to search for answers before discovering similar disappearances on a remote Montana highway that point to the work of a serial killer." No place near my favorite from Box; an unexpected and disconcerting plot twist about halfway through left a bad taste in my mouth.
