VERY GOOD 1952 action adventure film about pre-US Alaska before it was purchased from Russia in 1867 (sometimes referred to as 'Seward's Folly'). Fine acting by Gregory Peck and fab beautiful (and finely dressed) Ann Blyth. Excellent side role performances by Anthony Quinn as whack Portugee - and also Bill Radovitch as 'We Go' Ogeechuk, Jonathan's Eskimo crewman.
Fine seafaring photography, etc. as the two boats race to Sitka.

Part of the description on the DVD cover is misleading. Most of it is accurate, but one part makes it sound like a rescue mission when it was anything but. Other than that, this was a lovely little movie that I'm glad I got.

Excellent movie for its time period. Good old-fashioned movie romance with an outstanding cast and the script to be expected from the 1940s and 1950s.
