Carte Blanche

The New James Bond Novel

Large Print - 2011 | Large print ed
Average Rating:
Rate this:
In an adrenaline-fueled thriller set in the present day, a thirty-year-old James Bond goes head-to-head against one of the most compelling and horrific villains in modern thriller fiction. This isn't the Cold War Bond: it's the best of Fleming and Deaver in one seriously sharp and stylish novel. Bond's license to kill meets Deaver's razor-sharp storytelling in a cat-and-mouse game that takes Bond from the Balkans to London to a searing climax on the African continent.

Jefferey Deaver is on of my favorite authors, and I looked forward to reading “Carte Blanche 007” after seeing all the Bond films. However, the redundant excesses of Bond-ish trivia (ie: Bond puts his empty cartridge magazine in his pocket as he always does) was just too much as was the alphabet soup agency monikers (although Deaver at least apologizes and provides a Glossary). It seemed more like a movie script than a novel. I tried twice, the first a few pages, the second time got to Chapter 16, page 154 before surrendering – couldn’t finish it. Sorry Jeffery.
