I liked the intro. the army background of the main character was an interesting way to add an explanation for her combat skills, but the story was just a re-tread of the evil corporation/government/evil entity doing evil things. Not interesting at all. The characters have no agency, they just react to all the evil things the evil people do. Why do the evil people do these things? Because they're evil. There were many signs of lazy writing: weird phrasing such as "she went out like a light being turned off"; anacronysms such as when someone had plane tickets in their pocket; and characters doing out of character things to unnecessarily convolute the plot. Awful.

Interesting idea, entertaining characters, but over-the-top. I can accept the zomibes and the conspiracy, but Caine can't even have her characters walk out the front door without someone beating the heck out of them. It gets old and overdone very quickly...which is too bad, because the idea is interesting otherwise.

Original zombie. Weak ending.

A disappointment to see such a weak start to a new series.
