This is a mystery/thriller in the somewhat hard-boiled genre. I found it quite engrossing. It reminded me of Raymond Chandler, enough so that I kept moving it back several decades to match up with his work. Good characters. Really distinctive style--often the big action sentences are in the middle of the paragraph. It's the first of his I've read and I'll be ordering up more. A bit bloody in places, but it doesn't linger over that and it does set the mood. Well worth a try in my view.
