If only circuses were as benign as Feiler suggests. The mistreatment and misery of elephants and other animals goes on year after year as these travelling shows transit America to "entertain". If cruelty to animals, neglect for their needs and medical care is part of the circus, then it isnt entertainment.

This book was really good. True and down-to-earth. I liked this book better than I thought I would. I haven't seen a circus in years, and can't even remember which circus it was I saw. Maybe if one comes to Austin, TX where I live, I just might attend!
