One of those rare perfect hits: Smart, funny, and cleverly engaging.
It's often compared to Calvin and Hobbes and is a must-read for anyone missing that comic. Or, you know, just anyone.

This was so much fun! I love Phoebe and her unicorn and look forward to seeing them in more adventures. Makes me less sad that there is no new Calvin & Hobbes in the world.

Appears to be a collection of the earliest daily comic strips (Heavenly Nostrils). Sunday issues are separate from the weekday storyline. Good visuals, easy and fun to read. Reminds me a bit of Calvin and Hobbes.

Cute cartoons about a young girl and a unicorn. Funny and sweet with some panels that will make you pause and think this book is really like reading a Calvin and Hobbs collection.
I think I would have enjoyed it more if I was reading one strip at a time in a news paper, than all at once in a book format. But as I am also not the main intended audience that might just be me. I would recommend this for second to 6th grade, and some YA or adult readers.

Unlike Calvin and Hobbs I don't think both boys and girls would have the same enjoyment level. I think the pink cover and fancy unicorn would be a turn off for some boys and their initial reaction would be 'that's too girly/that's for girls'. Something to think about when recommending this title.

Funny and sweet with a bite, this is like Calvin and Hobbes but starring a girl and her non-imaginary unicorn friend. Highly recommend!

Funny series of comics about a young girl and her new unicorn friend (Marigold Heavenly Nostrils). Loved how vain the unicorn is, and also how clueless about human social interactions. Plus Phoebe is a smart, snarky, lovable character.

I am SO glad that my son is fine with all things pink and "girly" because I might have missed this book otherwise. And it's so funny! When Phoebe accidentally hits the unicorn Marigold Heavenly Nostrils in the face with a rock, who knew it would be the beginning of a beautiful friendship? The online cartoon makes the transition to book form beautifully. This was one of my son's favorite books in 2014. He even announced from the back seat of the car one day that he was VERY cross he hadn't managed to read it again lately, which he had been PLANNING to, and all this OTHER stuff had gotten in the way! (He has since made the time to re-read it, multiple times.) Both Phoebe and Marigold are so quirky, and the humor is so well-done, my husband and I were cracking up just as much as kiddo was.
