I watched the series on Prime and thoroughly enjoyed it. I found the novel full of futuristic jargon that was difficult to decipher. Quit after 50 pages - too much work.

This is an utterly different story than the Amazon Prime mini series of the same name and referencing this book and this author. Basic ideas regarding the world of Wilf Netherton, and the world of Flynne Fisher remain intact, but the plot…

Got through 20 pages and then gave up on this author who is just trying to be too clever. The result is a confusing storyline where the reader has to figure out who's who, what's what, and where are we. I was not prepared to invest more…

Easily the worst William Gibson novel. It's hard to decide which is a more important main character, the "heroine" or her luggage. They are given the same time and attention. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.

The concept of the story itself was interesting, but very hard to understand. Of course, not all stories will hold the readers hand, and you may be confused at the start. However, I found myself very confused throughout all 485 pages; I…

Dark, sparse, and very tense, with levels upon levels of plot intrigue, as well as a fresh and intriguing take on both time travel and virtual reality. Character-driven, but with sudden (and thus realistic) bursts of blistering action.

Two parallel and diverging timelines and one murder investigation. William Gibson's new cyberpunk book explores a future just within reach - with enough time and imagination, for better or for worse.

I found the setting(s) intriguing from the get-go. Other reviewers have noted the difficulty of piecing it all together - I stuck with it because I liked the main character and because somewhere around page 50 I'd pieced together enough to…

Vintage Gibson for better and worse. I really enjoyed it, and don't mind being thrown into a future without context, and having to piece things together similarly to how one does in real life. This is the barrier to his work, as everyone…

Fantastic, in the style of SF unraveling at breakneck speed while you piece together the world and people in it. Always has been my favourite style of SF, and Gibson is the man to pull this off. Love all his work, but absolutely…

A little off-putting at first because the characters are speaking jargon that you are not yet privy to--it feels a little Joycian (I don't happen to think that's a good thing). But it does coalesce into an entertaining read and the…

Some authors can go on forever, some - - like Gibson - - just have several good books and they continue to write long after that fishy smell has turned rotten! I agree this book is unreadable, but his last four or five weren't that much…

Definitely, definitely not for everyone. If you like being dragged along behind technobabble going at a hundred twenty miles an hour without anyone ever stopping to explain, you'll love this book (and the rest of Gibson's oeuvre). If you…

Outstanding adult Science Fiction. Great character development with multiple plot streams. I appreciated the intelligent structure of this writers style and the technology is right on time, Plausible and eerily enough, seeming this could…

"Unreadable stinker" is an apt description. Several chapters in, I still had no idea what was going on. And that's coming from someone whose favorite poem is "Jabberwocky."

I cannot rate this book because although I tried, I could not continue to read it. Like the other commenter here, I went for about 50 or more pages and still could not figure it out. Then I skimmed into later pages looking for anything…

Unreadable. I have always enjoyed William Gibson's vision for the impact of future technologies on society. And he has always made his readers work hard to understand the new jargon and concepts that he creates. But he's gone too far in…
