Celebrate Women’s History Month with us as we have a virtual visit with Laura Keyes of Historic Voices. Laura will introduce us to Elizabeth Packard, champion for Women’s Rights, who fought the law that allowed husbands to place their wives in asylums without medical examination or trial.
Elizabeth was committed to the Illinois state mental asylum in 1860 and was kept there for three years until she was finally able to obtain her release. Elizabeth Packard was the woman who would not be silenced.
